Modelling - building - interior - Mood lighting lamps

Create cylinder - add many height segments - modifiers apply changes to geometry that occur evenly between each piece of geometry - more geometry = smoother transition + bigger file size

Apply twist modifier - move gizmo centre to offset twist origin

Hierachy - affect pivot only - centre to object - turn off - affect pivot only

Tools - array - 360' rotation choose itterations (3 in shot below

5 in shot below

Create cone - make  top half larger then bottom

Place in position as plant pot

Decided to reduce twist number to 2 - select one twist itteration

In crease verticle scale to create offset appearance

Create inset on plant base

Apply extrude to allow for shadows and sense of depth

First attempt at making lamp glow involved adding glow modifier to self illumination - did not render as required

Second attempt involved applying lens effects - render - effects - add - lens effects - highlight glow - arrow across to apply to scene - go through menus to adjust settings
Applied to lamp only via material ID
Slate material editor - right click on material - mater ID - choose unique (un-used ID)
Lens effects - glow - apply to material ID - select same matreial ID
Visible via rendering scene

3DS max will inform user of error
In 3ds max 2011 the actual error which occurs using this effect with mental ray render IS fixed
However the warning message in the render information window was not removed
So the effect will work and will be shown and the information window will display that it wont
Therefore this error can be ignored

Adjusted setting to try and obtained desired results (reflection shown is cause by placing plane behind lamp (metal) to view reflective properties

Used render region tool (top left render window) to decrease render time by only rendering part of view required - adjusted setting to obtain result as shown

Applied 100% source colour to acquire blue tinge

Open table file with chairs

Import lamp file as before

Scale down - replicate 2 more times

Select single branch - adjust vertical scales to add variability to each lamp
